Week 1- The Lulu Dolman from Petite Stitchery

Check out the stripe matching going on in this post!20171114_164149-COLLAGE.jpgI had the opportunity to test the Lulu Dolman from Jennifer Jeremiah at Petite Stitchery a few weeks back, and what a joy!  This dolman style top is designed for sweater knits or other knit fabrics and includes either a long or half sleeves and a high-low curved hem with binding.  The PDF pattern includes layers from XS-3X and step by step sewing instructions, including pictures! I especially love that the dolman wings are slimmer than another dolman pattern I own and the back is long enough to cover my bum when wearing leggings.  Score!

I normally do not like to sew patterns I have tested again after they have released, mostly because I usually have 2-9 of them in my closet from testing (9 is rare, but ask me about that process sometime).  But the Lulu is probably one of my favorite patterns I have ever tested, and I would totally make an entire closet of them. This would probably be one of my top suggested patterns for Week 1- sew something warm/soft in our 52 Week Sewing Challenge.

Is your hemisphere in summer right now?  (Aussies I’m speaking to you.)  Use breathable fabric with a good drape (rayon spandex or ITY, for example) and the half sleeve option and I won’t tell a soul.

Get your copy of the Lulu Dolman here.

You can also get sewing support through the Petite Stitchery & Co. Facebook group.

You know that you have a good pattern on your hands when you’re taking selfies in your bathroom at work!

A special shout-out to Petite Stitchery for being one of our Week 1 sponsors.  They also have two new and adorable patterns from Kelly Stevens coming out this week, and something special up their sleeve to ring in the new year.  I can’t wait to show you!

Until then,

Kelsey

  1. I’d love to know more about the match car mat! My grandson would love it. Love the article btw. You’re tops are very nice and yes…great stripe matching. I’m still afraid to attempt stripes and I’ve been sewing for years lol.
